Finally, Pictures of my new 55 F-350!

The long awaited day finally arrived. Yesterday (Sat) I went to North East, PA to get my 55 F350. North East is the name of the town. It is about 20 miles east of Erie, in the NE corner of the chimney of PA that borders Lake Erie and NY State. I drove it home via backroads to avoid the Interstate through beautiful Noerthern PA. 200 miles and she ran great... or I should say He ran great. We named him Jimmy.
Here are some pics:
As I found it:

At its new home:

Me and my wife and Chief Financial Officer, Coral. She likes this 55 a lot better than my 70 F-350 which I am selling.

I took the old sideboards off. I think it looks better without them. I plan on getting a two 2 x 8's to make a small sideboard. I will use this to haul my mower and blower and weed whacker. If I haul mulch I'll put the sideboards on again.

It is not a Ford Script bed. I am not sure if it was homemade or if it is an aftermarket bed. It measures 7 x 10 feet. The floor boards are in bad shape. I think I will screw plywood over them for now.

The truck has the original seat in good shape. It has all the original Ford glass, some in good shape. It has the original cardboard firewall insulator. It has a windshield washer. There is a foot pedal on the firewall and a bracket in the engine bay to hold the bottle. The PO told me the PPO had water in it and it froze and broke. I will look into getting another and seeing if it works.

More pics later.

Kevin, it was probably closer to your house than it was to mine!

He drove 50-55 mph, oil pressure held steady at 45-50 (it has a separate oil pressure gauge as the stock one is not working) , temp gauge showed right at the midpoint between H and C. Heater worked well.

Thanks to Ray's advice I put radials on. The truck would not pass inspection due to the old dry rotted tires. I was leaning toward bias ply to ensure that the truck steered easily when backing or parking. Ray said he had radials on Missy Green and she steered easily due to the F350's larger steering gear box. Thanks, Ray!

I didn't have much time to work (or play) with it today as I was helping my son put a new head unit for his stereo system in his Mazda Miata. It needs cleaned up and some TLC.

Here is a picture of the foot operated pump for the windshield washer and the nozzle on the hood.

I will take some pics of the bracket under the hood tomorrow.

I once had a 67 opel wagon that had a rubber ball kinda thing on the firewall that was full of the fluid. Worked pretty good most of the time.

Thanks! It needs some cleaning up. I need to do something to the bed floor and make some shorter bed sides. There is some black overspray from the running boards I want to clean up. The doors close well but i need to adjust the striker plates. And the doors need new weatherstripping. But it is good to go now and drove the 200 mile trip with no problems.

That 200 miles was probably the longest trip it ever made!

Abe, great truck... but.. how can I put this the right way...

Do your neighbors enjoy F350s parked on the street? Some of the more, shall we say "leafy" neighborhoods... the denizens do not always share our enthusiasm. Hm.

Great truck, Abe! And it's fully functional. Few of us find them like that. Stu

Abe, sorry I missed you. I went to North East sat afternoon and checked to see if the truck was around. Glad you like it. I always thought it was a solid truck before it was painted and low mileage. Garry
