New FICM issues.

I sent my FICM off to Circuit Board Medics - Automotive & Appliance Circuit Repair last week as my truck was having some issues starting, poor mileage and would constantly display the P0611 code. When measured, the voltages would stray from 30v - 48.5v but the other two stayed around 13.5v. I concluded that it was indeed bad and purchased the repair with a Atlas 40 tune.

I received my repaired FICM today and it looks great. The case is clean, it has a warranty sticker and a couple of anti-tamper warranty stickers on it.

Plug it in and..... Nothing. No codes, no voltage, Nothing. I removed it and reinstalled it 5 times.... Still nothing....Replaced the FICM relay with a new Ford unit.... Still nothing.... Tested and reseated all fuses.... Nothing still....

Torque shows all readings on the truck, but the three FICM powers are 0.0.

When the key is cycled, the FICM relay is not activating. When I manually ground pin 27 in the FICM power plug (C1388CX3), it activates. I have checked all of the power wiring to include all of the grounds while the FICM relay is both grounded and not, and everything works as it should.

I'm thinking this reman was bad and I need to send it back. What do you think?

No, it will not start. The FICM always shows "0.0" for voltage when it is plugged in and the key turned on.

Yes, relay works when pin 27 is grounded.

I've done that. The FICM is not sending the voltage to the FICM relay to turn on.

All of the power pinouts have power when the the FICM relay is grounded at pin 27. Same with all of the grounds. They all have continuity when they should.

Check the only 50a fuse under the hood. Iirc it's #5. It's one of the square box fuses. Check all the idm labeled fuses too.

All fuses in both boxes are good. I'm going to check pin 7 in the connector again (key switched power) and see if it's working appropriately. Right now, its looking like a inoperative FICM.

Bummer. If you have a buddy with a 6.0, you could pull this unit off and install it in the buddy's truck. Any 6.0 Powerstroke-programmed FICM will start and run any other 6.0 Powerstroke. I would suggest NOT installing another FICM into your truck so that you don't chance hurting your buddy's FICM in case the issue is with your truck and not the module at all.

Ok, I just went through everything again.

With the FICM removed, and I ground pin 27 (FICM Relay PWR) in the c1388c connector, the FICM relay activates (audible click) and I get voltage at pins 8, 4, 23, 24 and 25. This is proper operation from what I understand.

I have checked for continuity between ground and pins 1, 2, 3, 22 and 26 and I have continuity.

With the ignition off, pin 7 (switched power) has no voltage. This is correct. With KOEO, pin 7 has voltage, again as it should.

FYI; this truck was running when the FICM was removed. It was removed to perform a repair due to low voltage situations in lower temperatures and rough starts. It did ALWAYS start and run though. I have a new alternator and the batteries are under 1 year old and test good.

When the "repaired" FICM is installed and the key turned to "on" the injectors to not pulse or anything. There is no voltage sent to the FICM relay (no audible click either) and Torque indicates "0.0v" for all FICM readings.

I'm sure this is a bad rebuild. There is no reason for it not to operate as it's being supplied with all of the power it needs to function.

Is there a way for me to bench check the power board without dis-assembly?

If I were to apply 12v to pin 7 (ignition signal), this should result in pin 27 going from open to ground, correct? Or do I need to apply power to 8, 4, 23, 24 and 25 and ground to 1, 2, 3, 22 and 26 to get a FICM relay "activate" signal from pin 27?
