1998 F150 XLT Radio CD question

Someone switched out the radio in my 98 F150. Truck came with factory remote 6 CD changer. Current radio is tape only.
Does anyone know the difference between radio numbers F75F-19B165-DA and F57F-19B165-AG? They seem to have the same face. Are they interchangeable?
Thanks

OK, I have taken out the "replacement" radio. It is a F75F-19B132-AA.

It has 2 large spade connectors on the back. In the attached picture of the connectors in the dash, #1 goes on the end, #2 towards the middle of the radio.

I also found connector #3 floating around in there not attached to anything although it has a push on type of attaching clip that looks like it was attached to something at some time. Would this be the plug for the remote CD changer?

If so, am I supposed to be looking for an original radio with the two male connections and one female connection on the back?

If not, what is #3 for?
Thanks

Well, I called Ford and they told me the part number for the original radio for my particular truck. F65Z-18806-BD. Great, except that the only one I can find anywhere is new old stock for like $1200!!!!!

Anybody got one lying around they want to get rid of?

Also, any guesses on what connector #3 in the picture goes to?

$1200??? WTF?? I've been putting some thought into how our 97-98 trucks' part numbering system works and F65x are BASE F150 V6 parts! F75x are a step above, used on all Expeditions and F85x are Navigator-specific parts.

Mazda uses a very similar organization. Bodywork parts common to all 86-88 RX7s like mine begin with FB01, rear wiper option is FB02, sunroof equipped cars use FB03 and so on.

Audio technology has come a long way since 1997, there are better aftermarket options available for very inexpensive. Our trucks can use a single DIN unit with a filler pocket, or a Double DIN headunit with some minor dashboard modification. JVC has some nice offerings such as the KW-XR810 which I have in my RX7. Here's a picture of one installed in a 97-03 F150/Expy: https://forums.finalgear.com/general...-52171/page-2/

I've been pretty impressed with it. When time and funds permit, I'm thinking about getting another one for my Expedition to replace the single DIN unit the previous owner did a poor job of installing. As for wiring info, start here: http://www.installDR.com
