Right, I didn't know what else to call the ones for illumination so I called them indicators.

I have a problem with both illumination and indication. When you engage 4x4 the truck does engage so that part of the switch works, but the illumination goes out and doesn't come back on when you turn off 4x4, and there is no illumination on the dash indicator to show its engaged.

So that being said, am I looking at a faulty switch or something else in the dash cluster being a problem?

Did the indicators in the cluster light up during the self test? The illumination in the switch has nothing to do with what position it is in and is on a different circuit, might just be a bad bulb.

Yes, they did light up during self test. Both low and high range

The cluster test that you performed confirms that you have faulty programming in the cluster. The LED is working properly during the test, but not when you engage 4x4. I just didn't want you to get confused by what the test that you performed was actually doing.

Ok CBM. Twice when I tapped the cluster my windows and radio came back on, so I have a few questions about the service you provide :

1. If I send my cluster to you how long does it take to come back?
2. Do you fix only the faulty component or do you resolder every chip on the board?
3. Is my cluster guaranteed to work? I'm not going to plug it it back up and have the same issues right?
4. Lastly, what's the cost?

I figure I better get this fixed now before it gets worse. I just want to get as much info as possible. Thank you

9Dark6,
We have a 1 business day turnaround on the repair service. If we receive it on Monday, it ships on Tuesday. We address all of the weak/common problems on the board, but this is not a one-size-fits all repair service. In other words, the cluster can suffer from different failure modes, but we rebuild the cluster to outlast a brand new one. I don't want to mislead you into thinking that every component on the board is replaced or even re-soldered because it would be more economical to completely manufacture a replacement at that point. It would be equivalent to rebuilding an engine without using any of the original parts... that would just be a new engine without any upgraded parts.
Your cluster is indeed guaranteed to work, and it is fully tested before we ship it. We even have a 2004 test truck like yours in our fleet. Regarding the price and other details, please find complete details at the following page:

We are here to answer your questions at 800-547-2049 if you want to call and talk through anything.

Just wanted to put a "Solved" on this post. I finally got around to laying my truck up and pulling the cluster to send to CBM. They are everything they claim to be on their website. I had excellent communication from them and they had it repaired and back to me in a couple of days. It fixed all my issues, with the exception of the 4x4 light which I think is more of a switch problem. I never would have believed all the things that run through the cluster. Thanks again for all the input
