1994 7.3idi e4od codes 23 &29
I recently purchased a 1994 Ford F Super Duty with a 7.3 IDI e4od dually(5.19 rear gears) Now I replaced the throttle position sensor(fipl sensor) and vehicle speed sensor(in the rear diff) and can't drive more than 100ft without transmission going into limp mode. When I pull codes(after changing sensors) koeo I get 23 and 29. 23= throttle position sensor out of range, 29= insufficient input from vss or insufficient input from psom. I don't know how to check vss but from everything I've read online the speedometer acts up when the psom goes bad, mine acts normally. I adjusted the tps/fipls until I have 1.1v at idle and 3.8 at wot. That is what everyone says specs are for it. The only thing I can think to do is take the sensors back and exchange them. I'm not a mechanic but I know enough to get myself into trouble. Anything helps. Thanks

As long as the sensor sees that you're holding the pedal down it doesn't care if your foot is on the pedal or you're holding it with your hand.
You can just clean the PSOM connectors. If your problem is dirty connections that will fix it. If the problem is a bad PSOM then it isn't going to fix it.

Do I need to wait to be prompted to hold throttle down because my code scanner flashes cade 10 and I can't find code 10 anywhere, I think code 11 means ok, I think I've read some where that 10 ment to hold down throttle but I didn't know they ment koeo I thought it was koer . I learn something new everyday. Thanks

on my scanner I have to
press the pedal to the floor
turn on the ignition
turn on the scanner
tell the scanner to activate
It shows the operating/active codes (followed by O) first then will flash a "10" if everything is ok then it will check the constant/codes in memory followed by a "c", if all is well it will flash an "11"
so it sounds like you have no active codes by getting the 10 and then you have a stored code 29c, is your O/D light flashing?
as Mark said above 23 is for not having the pedal to the floor

Mark you were right all I had to do was take the connectors off and clean and I put some dielectric grease in while I was there, everything is back to normal. Scott, my o/d light was flashing but cleaning the connectors and adding some dielectric grease to the psom connector solved the problem. Which scanner do you have, I have the Innova yellow Ford odb1 scanner from autozone. I'm going to run the scanner when i get home to see if i missed any thing. I'm sure it'll work this time time, now that you two walked me through the process.

Glad to hear it's fixed. I also have an Innova scanner
For some unknown reason I couldn't erase my codes with the scanner and I had to disconnect the batteries for about 20 min. to finally make my Constant/memorized code erase

TPS problems please help
Hey y’all I picked up a 92 7.3idi about a month ago, had some problems so I’ve been chipping away at it little by little. My biggest issue is the infamous hard shift with E4OD. I have put new mlps, new tps, new pcu, and have ordered a new tach sender. My issue I am having is the top wire on the tps the signal wire is supposed to have 5volts? Because I have 0 and even tho I have 1.1 at ct and 4.3 at wot on the second wire down it will only shift around 3k rpm no matter how I excellerate. Can anyone help me with maybe what the problem may be or thoughts on where to start to address this. I have checked some connections but haven’t ran the wire all the way back. Is there any way the tach sender is tied into the signal wire on the tps? Anything advise is welcomed thanks.
