adding a spotlight

Has anybody mounted a spotlight to your F series 1948, 9, 50?
I got a 4 1/2 and a 6 " dia. I would like to see a pic of how far up the door post it goes.
It will be 6 volt and go on my 1950 F2.
Just thouht it would look cool. Truck is all stock.

Mine is a Unity and mounted as shown. The handle hits the dash if I really twist it, but that would be to look almost straight up.

Check this out. Kind of old but there are a chttps://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1017451-spotlight-installation-guidance-needed.html?highlight=spotlight+locationouple pics. If the link didn't turn out right, an advanced search for spotlight location, Steves 55 I think. Ross types faster than me. Nice truck Ross.

I took mine out. It was mounted at a rather unfriendly location. Looked a lot like a head gash waiting to happen.

What ever you decide try and drill through the piller on a slight angle (the handle in
side the truck is a little higher than the light) so rain won't wick up inside. Mine is a 4 inch Unity. They do a good job melting ice on wiper blades..

That's on my list to do, also. I have four spotlights, two are matching and marked 'Mercury' that will go on my 50 Merc coupe. Then I have two that are of different manufacturers on of which go on my 50 F1. I'm also interested in mounting configurations.

BTW, when I first entered law enforcement we were driving Dodge Diplomats and the spot lights were mounted on the roof. Later on after several injuries the spots were moved to the front post. Really lost a lot in the move as far as visibility.

unityusa.com still sells the original FoMoCo spotlights and the brackets.
