I need to know when the engine was built because it is in a 2000 truck but the motor is obviously not from there and the valve cover says 2000. The motor has a mechanical fuel pump and single shots. Here's a pic for reference:

I really appreciate any help guys, it's been such a problem not knowing what engine is in the truck!

 

201681 is the start of the 96 motors.

I would guess yours is a late 94.5 or early 95.

 

94.5-95 engine serial no. 201680 & before)
96 and up engine serial no. 201681 & up

 

So I'd assume its a late 94, I kept telling my dad it was probably a 94 or 95 but he needs proof to believe me haha. Thanks guys

 

All e99 and up had electric fuel
