The flickering dash could very well be another manifestation of a main power connection issue, or one or both batteries very weak.

I'll check my connections soon and hopefully now with the plow off it will not drain. We'll see.

All of your symptoms, hesitant to crank, slow crank, sudden normal crank, flickering dash, are indicative of bad connections.
In addition to battery cables (both ends), check the block to chassis ground strap.
