You can decode the certification label here: Certification Label - Gary's Garagemahal

And the VIN here: VIN Decoding - Gary's Garagemahal

And, I too have a 400 as well as its little brother the 351M. Good engines.

Thanks Garry,
I'm thinking that the steering column from the 80 truck will bolt into my 85 without problems.

Not sure how we got from VIN to steering column, but I've swapped an 85 column into an 81 truck with no problems. I'm pretty sure they all swap from 80 to 86.

This guy was parting out a truck I was looking for the transmission but it's wrong. But I'm going to take the steering column anyways maybe the driveshaft to converting from t18 to c 6. Regular Cab Standard bed.4.9

Yep. But, Tim Meyer has a pretty simple fix. I've done it on the engine I'm building so don't have any experience as the engine isn't done. However, Tim says they'll idle at 40 psi hot with that mod.

That's good to know. About 1991 or so, my FIL married a woman with a 74 LTD, with a 400.At the time, the car was 17 YO, and had 25,000 original miles. Had the low oil pressure problem.
They went through the bottom of the engine, new main, and rod bearings, new oil pump. Didn't help it a bit.....

Info is here: Oiling System Mod's - Gary's Garagemahal

Part of the problem is that the oil pressure gauge comes off the back of the engine - after the oil goes through the lifter gallery.
