66 Cab Extension for a bit more room....

Here is a before and after pic. I'm tall and have had several of these old trucks. They just aren't quite big enough. I only plan on building me one final truck and I'm wondering how this would look. I just need a bit more room for legs and to lean the seat back just a bit for longer trips.
Opinions???? This is not my truck BTW.

obviously unmodded cab

after a slight cab extension

To me, it makes the cab look "Heavy"

Did you scale it? If so, how much did you add?

Waaaaaay more work, but to keep the proportions, it would probably work better adding a lesser amount to the cab, and some to the door as well....

I didn't scale it. I cut me a piece and added kinda like doing it in steel. Have no idea the size in inches. You may be right on the door comment but I wouldn't want to do all that. I do like the proportions as it came from Ford but I'm just too dang big to be totally comfortable in a regular cab truck. Oddly my '49 F1 that I sold last year seemed to be more comfortable to me than any '66 or '55 that I've had. Thanks for the reply.

In the end, weather you stretch only the cab, or cab & doors, you will have to stretch the chassis to acheive that (or "bob" the box)
Might be better to add even more length to cab than in your photoshopped pic, and then add a window to make it an extended cab. Just like the Ford Ranger pickups

If your looking for a truck I would suggest getting a crew cab. Searching for one might take some time, they do pop up on ebay from time to time. From there you can modify it without having to do any structural building.

Thanks for the ideas!! I'm not a crew cab person. I've been slinging some thoughts around lately. Started off looking at a 7.3PS chassis that could do some serious pulling then decided against that. I'm currently sold on doing a complete Crown Vic chassis. I've got my feelers out there for a creme puff Crown Vic. Lots of older people have them and haven't beat them to death. I'm also keeping my eyes open for just the right '66 truck. Proly buy it in parts. I want to go from the ground up on this one. I hate that I ever sold this one...it was cherry!!!

I've had the same thought about extending the cab...thanks for modifying a pic to get a better visual. I did see a truck in one of the classic truck mags a few years ago that had something similar done. I think it might look better if the big back window from the uni's were added...maybe the cab wouldn't look too thick past the doors then.

Threre is a guy running around west St. Louis County that has a 53 f100 that has been stretched into a super cab. It is beautiful. Very professional. It has side windows behind the door frame. Who ever did the body work was an expert. Add some windows to your photoshop picture, make the truck a little longer and see if you like it.I was thinking along the lines you are taking and thought the side window out of a 94 F150 would do the job.

I like tre way you stretched the cab in the photos in the first post. I'd like to see a build on someone doing that to there truck. I saw this slick at ford nationals couple years ago. I stumbled across a Craigslist for sale ad last year for it. I wonder if he ever sold it.

(Some of) the F100 Crew cabs mfg by Crown Coach used a stock lwb (128") Chassis, but they "bobbed" the front of the lwb box to compensate for the extra length added to the cab. (this leaves only a few inches from the front edge of box panel to the leading edge of wheel opening.)

Here is a pic of Crown F100 pilfered from my friend Rich (rbeck204)

On my (1966 Ford produced) crew w/swb box, it has a 147" wb
