I agree. Go wreck some advance design chevy with that frame. There IS however a part of me in a dark recess somewhere that loves the recently shown 40 ford pu on an explorer frame. Both ford, both 114" wheelbase and the track width looks right. That green truck looks ready to drive as is. Somebody buy it!

The rat rod guys act like they invented the stuff. Back before 'WE' were president of key bank or Amazon we made a cool car out of stuff we had around the place. We didn't do it on purpose we did it because we couldn't buy a '32 ford grill for our '42 frame, model A cowl and 223 six out of our grandpas' milk truck...... today's skulls, Hand grenade shifter, navajo blanket on the seat, red wheels, wide whites, spider webs, slammed to the basement.... yawn I am sooo falling asleep.

I built one in about 1980 from spare parts. It was a 34 VLD engine, found a frame that had been through a fire and reworked the neck, found an old RL springer that had been extended 12" with Ford wishbones, used a Truimph front wheel and a 57 Sportster rear, Hummer tank, 3 speed reverse tranny from a UL

Yeah, I think those cars are actually something different from the origins of the rat rod. It started as a sort of budget build, using what you had, patina was cool. Then it morphed in to shock rods and cartoon cars, cars with stupid goofy crap all over them like cow skulls and saw blades. And long before there were rat rods, there were rat bikes.
