Heidts mustang II

Does anyone know if the installation measurement from heidts for their mustang II front end on a 53-56 f100 put the front wheels in the center of the fender well or do I need to improvise to get the wheels centered? Thanks

I am doing the Heidt's Superide II in my truck over the next few weeks as well and I would also like to know if people had to improvise or not. I will be following this thread.

As the axle centerline backset is a well known and common issue, I would think there would be reference to this in the instructions. But instead of depending on guesswork and hearsay, I'd make the call directly to Heidt's to ask the question.

Ok so I called heidts and they said the installation instructions were based on the factory locations. GMbusa replied that I need to move the axle centerline forward 1.25". Is this the correct distance? Not doubting but just want to make sure and maybe a second opinion. Thanks

Who did you talk to at Heidt's? Justin is who I was working with and he had an answer for everything!

Yes, they do align their front end exactly with the factory centerline. You do need to move it forward to center the wheel in the fender opening. GMbusa said 1.25 inches forward which is exactly what I have always heard. Some here have moved theirs to be in the center, I am sure someone will verify soon...

Yes it does center the wheel in the opening... install as to their instructions.
