NewB to Fords
Hey All . I just inherited this truck from ill brother in law for a small amount of money. It needs some work but I think it will make a decent truck. It's a 1989 HD Std Cab. It has a problem of fouling the number 4 plug with in a couple weeks. It doesn't smoke, so I figured it was the valve guides gong bad. Checked with a ford Mechanic and he confirmed my predictions. Checked around for a Complete head job and it's running around $1500.00. I found a motor with a lot less mile and a three year warranty for less than Half that much. Then there is about two dozen other things to do till I'll be comfortable to take it very far from the house. Around town is OK, but not much farther. But it will be a work in progress for a while...So I'll be asking questions when something gets me stumped. I have the Hanes book for it, but unable to find a manual like a ford mechanics book. But I will get through it and have a great dependable truck in the end. Probably be like Johnny Cash, only fixing it one part at a time, Hahahaha. Ok enough for now, Eric.

Thank for the warm welcome mrdanialcruz. I get this fixed sometime soon I will probably be out in your neck of the woods. I have a Niece that live in Vegas, and I will probably trip on over into Cali. to visit and other niece while I'm out that way. Most of my growing years were in and around Barstow. Dad was in the Marine Corps so we had to go where he was transferred stateside. Truly love the desert, but it really don't like me. Anyway, thank you for the welcome. Eric
