I have been lurking around for a long time and I figured it was time. I have owned a couple of older trucks in the past and I recently purchased another. I love the advice from the members and I truly enjoy the pictures. It gives me many ideas for the blank canvas I have sitting in the garage.
I am a fireman by trade but I wish I was a mechanic. I feel that I can "fix" anything. Although, with this truck I want to rebuild. I would love nothing more than to restore the truck to it's original parts and mechanics with a few modifications. Hopefully with the help of this community I can get it there.
My first question: Is there a way to tell what was original to the truck, with regards to the differentials, transmission, transfer case, and more just by using the VIN?
Thank you all for the warm welcome as I have read through the required readings for rules and recommendations. Hope to talk soon...

Thanks for the welcome, Tony. I also want to thank 1A Auto for quality videos. I was able to replace the rear shocks/struts on my '08 Mountaineer with the help of your videos. I always check to make sure that 1A has the replacement part I need before ordering. Keep them videos coming!!!
