So my wife was driving my EX today...

This exact thing happened to me two years ago, even the wife driving part. In my case it turned out that one or two COPs failed (can't remember for sure), which made to engine rough = exhaust broke off just where yours did. I got a Gibson cat back off Amazon because it was the cheapest replacement I could find.

I went and got my Ex tonight. I had to limp it home. As long as i kept it at or under 1000 rpm's and avoided all hills it would move forward.
Had a list of about 10 codes. 3 or 4 were O2 codes and the rest were tranny codes i think. TCC solenoid codes. I dont have the codes written down but will get them in the morning, maybe some of you experts can help me with the codes.
I appreciate every ones input, that is what makes this forum so great. Thanks

This sounds like a MAF issue but if the code didn't pull then ignore that. It is however one of the things a broken MAF will do though.

I got the codes pulled, if anyone has any experience with any of the codes please comment.
Here are the codes i pulled:
Tranny codes: I'm assuming some wiring was damaged around the tranny
P0743 TCC circuit condition
P0755 B-shift solenoid malfunction
P1747 - Electronic Pressure Control Solenoid - Short circuit
Evap system:I dont know anything about this system
P0446 FORD - EVAP System Vent Control Circuit
P0443 evaporative emission system purge control valve circuit
O2 codes: i assume that replacing the missing O2 sensor will correct these:
P0135 FORD - O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction Bank 1 Sensor 1
P0141 FORD - O2 Heater Circuit Bank 1 Sensor 2
P0155 FORD - O2 Heater Circuit Bank 2 Sensor 1
P2270 - O2 Sensor Signal Biased/Stuck Lean Bank 1 Sensor 2
Thanks again for any input you may have.

I will take some when i get some quality time underneath her saturday or sunday. I could see where the O2 wiring wrapped around the drive shaft.

Finally able to get under the Ex today. Here are some pics:
Whats left of the O2 sensor wire.
Found this above rear axle drivers side. I assume something is supposed to be connected to this but didn't see anything in the area that would connect. Any ideas what this connects to?
The missing pipe between cat and muffler.

Picture #2, the white plastic fitting on the end of that hose with nothing on one end is the rear axle breather vent. It is supposed to be open to the atmosphere to let the expanding/contracting air inside the axle vent to prevent building pressure and subsequent leaks on the axle housing.
Some folks relocate the axle (and trans) breather vents to higher locations if they plan to be playing around water.
