Fuel Tank Replacement

Hi Folks,
I need to replace my front fuel tank. It started leaking years ago and I just stopped filling it and only use the rear tank. I finally have some funds I can use to replace the tank.

The question is which size tank is up front? There are two options a 16 and a 19 gallon tank. For what it's worth I have a Super Cab XLT 4x4 (long bed).

I don't want to mod anything unless absolutely necessary. I just want to get it back to working condition and as painlessly as possible. The 19 gal does not show a listing for my truck but the 16 gallon does. Even if the 19 isn't stock, if it'll literally bolt in place of what I have I'm fine with that. I just don't want this to turn into a month-long project or winter-long project in my case!

Thanks for any input.

Long bed would be 19 gallons. SOME trucks with automatics (why the tranny type matters is ) have 22-ish-gallon plastic tanks. But if yours is leaking because of a rust hole, then it's obviously not one of those....

Isn't there a fairly simple large single tank replacement for the two smaller tanks? That way you'd also get rid of the tank selector valve switch. But going to a single tank would increase the odds of it turning into a month or winter long project...

19gal tank is the correct one if you have a long bed. Just did mine a couple months ago. Amazon had the best price on the tank and it came with new sender lock ring and o-ring. I also had to repair my pick up tube. I didn't want to spend $35 on the plastic pick up shower head thing so I used some 3/8 diesel fuel hose and extended the pick up. Cut a v in the bottom so it wouldn't suction to the tank. I also ordered new tank straps as they will most likely be bad too.

There is a 38 gal tank for the rear F26E I believe is the correct part number. Amazon is also the best price last I checked. I will be replacing my leaking rear with this larger tank this spring.

Thanks Ya'll! I'm ordering the one from Amazon now!

As for the broken pickup or any broken pickup I found a good video on youtube where the guy removes the entire pickup and replaces it with a copper pipe. I believe it was labeled "harpoon and hutch mod" or something like that. I can't find it off hand but if anyone is interested...

Forgot to mention I did the harpoon and tank vent mod. Well worth the hassle. I simply jimmied the inner metal tube out of the fill neck to open it up. I also replaced the rollover valve with a 3/4 NPT to 5/8" hose barb 90. I then ran some rubber hose from that up and over my fill neck and secured it. I have not had a single problem with venting and filling since! I will be doing this to the rear tank when the time come as well.
