It has a HUGE effect on stall speed. A converter that stalls at 2000 RPM with a 250 HP engine will stall a lot higher with a 400 HP engine. How much higher depends on a lot of variables, the biggest one being the engine's torque curve.

Well this morning I did the stall test and it started to grab around 2k and broke the wheels at 2400. I am afraid it's gonna act all normal when I get there next Thursday. I almost want to pull my trailer there. It'll definitely do it then! LOL
When I was on my way out here, I would start to notice it because my RPMs at 65 were running 2500 and the trans temp would slowly start to climb...then it would set the trans slip code. I could pull over, shut it off, reset the code, wait 15, start again. I had to do this process about every 90 minutes. It wouldn't get super hot, but the norms towing even before the JW were 155-160. When slipping, the temps would get up to 180* and sometimes spit fluid out the vent. Those temps were according to my engine monitor.

I don't know enough about these transmissions to know why it would go to 3,000 RPM's during one stall test and only 2,400 the next test. You mentioned the 2400 RPM test was in the morning, maybe the fluid didn't have a chance to get warmed up or hot, but that's a pure guess.
I'm thinking that if something has been slipping the trans fluid will smell burned and/or look burned. If so, that's some solid evidence that there's a problem. If it were my trans I don't think I'd volunteer the information that I've been doing a series of stall tests, he might consider that as abuse.
Good luck and I hope everything works out.

In my experience, John is very reasonable. He's not like dealing with a Ford dealership tech who has his head up his butt. I already told him straight up that I did two different tests at no more than 3-4 seconds. He wasn't bothered by it. I called him from the road when I was having trouble. He knows it has been an issue so I am not worried. If two stall tests burn the converter, it had issues to begin with.
