1997 f350 7.3 dually bought with no working reverse. It worked before the seller said. Took the tranny out and it has reman tag.... take it apart and get to the rubber check *****. I looked at another post and I have 9 check *****. 95 e4od..... the 96/97 says to have eight with no screen. The ninth ball isn't covering any hole its just a blank pocket. Did they mess up or do I have a 95 reman tranny?! The valve body has 96 written on the side with a marker. Please help

1990-1997 should have an EPC Valve and an Accumulator Screen.

This problem just happen all of a sudden?

Reverse is all mechanical. Sounds like you've a valve suck somewhere.

Try and air test the reverse piston. Use a regulated air gun with a rubber end.

I'll try to find a diagram showing test points.

You can see the reverse clutches with the pan off. Look for any burnt clutches if you can.

The reverse piston is number 1 in that pic. Should be able to see those clutches apply you should be able to hear a healthy 'click'

You most likely have a '95 tranny. Don't mind the marks on the Valve/Accumulator bodies. Mine has a 'MKS' & '86' marked on it. Not sure what those marking mean, but it's some sort of cataloging or quality check.

Where any of the bolts holding on the separator plate loose? Especially the three holding the plate on near the rear of the tranny?
