windshield wiper problem
Good morning i have a 94 F150 and the windshield wipers are stuck vertically. I had the engine running and made one pass to clear off some slush and the wipers just stopped. The washer fluid pump works so I dont think its a fuse/ circuit breaker issue. I manually moved the wiper arms down to the horizontal position and the next time i started the truck they moved down a 1/4" or so. It has the intermittent switch. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

interested to see what your issue is. Mine did the same thing this morning. I do not have any washers though (they haven't worked for a while). Prior to this morning, intermittent side would come on and cycle a few times, then would not come back on. The low and high settings did always work. I can hear the module clicking when I wiggle the wiper switch, but the wipers do not move. When I shut the truck off and came back out at lunch time they moved about 1/4" and that was it.
Really confusing. I am leaning toward the multifunction switch due to a turn signal light that would come on when braking. When I wiggled the turn signal lever everything would work right for the lights again.

Quick test if its the switch OR motor...
Turn them on and take a rubber mallet and start tapping, wrapping the motor. If the wipers start, then you have a motor problem.
You can also hook your DVOM up to the battery and watch for high load on the battery when the wipers make the click. If it causes a big dip in voltage, Money on motor, as its got high resistance and your big drop in voltage.
The grease starts to harden in the wiper transmission and in other cases and does happen most of the time-The motor inside has been compromised with water intrusion from the damaged cowl weatherstripping, allowing for rain, snow, ice to find its way into the casing.
And wrapping/tapping on it will only last a short while, if you hit it to hard, you will break the magnets inside the motor housing which creates the electrical field, its done then.
If you have PB Blaster or Liquid Wrench, use the straw to spray into the 4 holes at the bottom of the motor and with it in and a mallet, spray inside, all around in each hole, then with the wipers in the ON position, start tapping it and once they start working, spray some more.
