ok i have a interesting question. i have a 1999 ford e350 with the 7.3 PSD that needs lots repairs. I'm coming into some money soon if I'm lucky. so my question is should i take the time to put 10k in repairs and body work in my 1999 van or should i take 15k and buy a 2006 ford excursion with the 6.0 PSD? i know its a lot to invest in a 1999 van but least i know whats been done to it. as to the excursion i have no idea how it was maintained or what may be getting ready to fail. i know in the end its my design but I'm the kind of person that looks for options and advice so i can make my own informed desion.

my vote is repair the 99 van. reason is the 6.0 is costly to repair and less tolerant to water in fuel, low ctane rated fuel, heat, etc. if I were to estimate the rpice difference in repair cost...I would say the same engine repair would easily cost 4 times more on a 6.0.

the 6.4 which is an improved 6.0 is a little better but cost of repairs are just as high as the 6.0.

alternatively....a V10 gas version would be very reliable and less costly to maintain.

 

i would pay to have a mechanic check out the excursion first before purchase

 

well made a big decision with all the advice from Facebook and 2 ford forums. if i get a settlement i will buy a 2000 - 2005 Ford Excursion 4x4 Power Stroke Diesel. i want stock radio with rear dvd for the entertainment system. i do not want a lift of any kind on it. i also want the OEM lighted running boards and OEM Towing Mirrors. i plan to have Tulsa, OK's DieselPowerPlus.net to look over any excursion I'm interested in. want to make sure i don't end up with another lemon like i did on the Chrysler 300 i bought.
I'll keep u updated as i search, and if anyone knows of one beside to drop me a line.
