buying a f-350 I-6 300

Thinking of buying a 1986 f350 dually has the I-6 I have been trying to find payload and towing specs on the truck.

vin: 1FDKF37Y9GKA87282

GVWR 11000 LB / 4989 KG

WB 137

TYPE: F379

BODY: BD8

TRANS: F

AXLE : 65

TAPE: BLANK

SPRING: D 5

ALSO SAYS 9M AND 55 BETWEEN VIN AND CODES

from what I've found it has a t-18 4spd and and rear axle is 4.10 I think (but I'm unsure of what axle it is , tag says v1908 10 10 2 6A17)
any help would be appreciated

if someone with an owner manual could share the towing spec I would really appreciate it. Also any thoughts on how well this truck will pull a load. mostly around town but 8-10k
not worried about speed just don't know if this truck could do it?

The 1986 F-350 has a gross vehicle weight rating of 6,000 to 10,000 pounds, which is the maximum weight the truck is capable of carrying. The pickup sits on a 134-inch wheelbase and is 202 inches long, 75.5 inches tall and 77.1 inches wide. Its front tread is 65.7 inches and the rear tread is 64.3 inches. The F-350 rides on 15-inch steel wheels with 235/75R15 tires. Its curb-to-curb turning radius is a wide 51.5 feet. The F-350's curbside weight is 4,548 pounds.

You won't be running any races and probably won't be able pass a gas station without stopping but i think it should pull. You might want to consider trailer brakes also.

No F350 of any year came with 15" wheels. 1967/98 F350's came with 16" wheels.

I've also never heard of anything bigger than an F-150 having a GVWR as low as 6,000 lbs. Methinks ehow might not be a reliable source.

The GVWR is the specified maximum total weight of both the truck and load........including passengers, fuel, everything.

So the GVWR, minus the truck & passenger's combined weight, gives the carrying capacity (payload).

Sure, six-banger in a 350! That thing provides excellent torque and is considered not only Ford's but one of THE best work engines ever built by anybody; it gets inserted into tractors and dump trucks and all sorts of things (well, used to).

The 300/4.9L was offered in the F350, but never the 302/5.0L!

yep, it's an odd ball, maybe part of the reason why I thought about buying it. I'll post some pics tomorrow too see what you guy think. Still can't find the factory towing specs which amazes me in today's "every thing at the tip of your finger tips world"
