lift kit recommendations for a 6/77 low boy F-250 4x4?
i want to lift my truck. the stock front springs have a negative arch and the left side sags lower than the right. i was thinking of a skyjacker 4" lift with springs/shocks. what do you guys think ? should i go 6" ? i DONT want more than 6" of lift. im running 36" humvee tires on it now so a lift would definitely help clearance but am gonna run some 36" toyo M/T's

Here is my 79 with a Skyjacker 6" "system" (meaning new rear leafs also and you reuse the OEm block) and 36" mil take offs. I now have 35's on it with lots of room. Might put on some 38's or 39's some day?
Drop pitman arm, adjustable steering link, longer steel braided brake lines, longer shocks.
NO need to lengthen either d/s. I am going to put a e brake cable drop bracket for good measures, but it is not a have to.

78 with a used Rough Country 4" on the front only and 35's, the springs are sagging already....
So I am looking into a new 4" from Skyjacker or Atlas and NO need for rear blocks at all.

Rims/tires are what came on it 9 or 10 x 16.5's, back spacing? Next time I pull a tire I will measure them for you.
I will never again use Rough Country, I knew better than to use a used lift kit. The springs measured out good and looked fairly new...but I had PO installed worn out HB springs with 3" front blocks and that crap had to go.
The newer springs are settling and letting the truck measure out with a noticeable difference. The PO double stacked the rear blocks too.

i think double stacking the rear blocks is asking for trouble. im gonna hit Central 4wd tomorrow and see how much a 4" lift kit is. i'll keep you posted. i think 4" is enough. to get rid of the negative arch 2-leaf front springs will surely help. and what about a shimmy shock or two ? i have power steering so i dont think a shimmy shock is even required?!

Yes stacking rear blocks is a bad idea. The extra height only multiplies the torque from the motor, trans, d/s, axles to the tires into a twisting force of the axle and that makes your leaf springs flex in a S.
That is why I like Altas, they offer a lift kit that lets you not have to reuse the rear block at all. Rock Mountain has a great lift kit deal and offer FREE shipping.
Suspension lift kits - Ford pickup, SUV, SUT And they carry Skyjacker.

You can double stack a block if you have enough spring. It's not ideal but it's not necessarily a bad thing. I have 11 ply of spring and 7" of block (not proud) with a Detroit locker in the rear. With my old 390 it really wasn't that bad and it wasn't a lazy motor. I recently built a pretty healthy 445 and I'm at the point where I'm afraid to beat on it. Might be a odd thing to do but I'm going to keep my current setup and add long traction bars to stabilize.
I can tell you what I have isn't near as bad as my dads 78 F250 with stock reg axle and whatever it has 5 ply I think? That thing will guaranteed break something if you stay in in. His 400 runs about like my 390 did and talk about crazy wheel hop.

Thanks, they always look good when fresh washed don't they? And yes 4" and 35's, with no steering issues, lock to lock.

well i went to central 4X4 today and got a price for a 4" liftkit with all new shocks and steering stabilizer and all the hdwr. they said $1610 and a couple weeks to get it.
i measured my trucks current ride height at the fenders. LF is 37.25", LR is 39.50", RF is 36.75", RR is 39" so as you can see its a little saggy and tired. theres pics of it on my profile. when i get the liftkit installed i'll post pics. thanks everybody for your input! Skyjacker was the best way to go
