4.0 sohc trans swap to 4.0 ohv
Exactly as the title states. I've got a 99 4wd Explorer 4.0 SOHC I am taking the transmission from and intend on putting it in a 00 4wd Explorer 4.0 OHV. Will this bolt up and run correctly. I see online that it wouldn't bolt to the 5.0. But nothing really on this. I don't have the 00 Explorer yet, so I can't physically see.

Good question. I stumbled on this, good background on why these things are such a POS:

I think you have the 5R55E in both vehicles.
Every site I look at for replacement or other specs lists the 5R55E for both the 4.0 motors. The PCM determines shifting etc, which makes sense as the PCM will "know" the engine involve.
I had a '98 OHC Exploder. WOT shift was 6000 rpm. I now have a '99 OHV, WOT shift is 4500 rpm.
Eye-watering links:
Automatic Transmission Application Identification
Gears and Rears Frorum Transmission Specs Data Specifications - Ford 5R55E General Descrtiption, applications, known issues.
