Can anyone tell me where to look for engine information for Ford Explorers.
1. What engines were offered by year.
2. Changes Ford made to engines by year.
3. Compatibility... Will a 99 4.0 V6 bolt into a 97 Explorer

Yes, you can bolt a 99 V6 into a 97 providing you are swapping an OHV for an OHV or a SOHC for a SOHC.
If you are swapping out an OHV for a SOHC, you will also require the computer for sure and not sure of anything else.
