Just did my 7th oil change today at 30,000 miles, using 5000 mile intervals and two early changes when the engine was new.

If you do a little research, as other have said, the Ford 820s and Semi-blend is good stuff. Paid $33.45 at wally world for 7 qts and filter.

It's hard to beat the price of Ford Quick lane oil changes. I just received a coupon in the mail to get the works (oil, filter & tire rotation) for $39.95.

That is hard to beat! I just bought 7 qts. of oil and a filter at Advance. Cost me $39.64 after my military discount, and I still have to do the labor!

At least you don't have to drive, wait and hope the least skilled guy in the shop does justice to your truck

You have a $50,000 truck and worry about a couple dollars in oil???????

Ford filter is readly available as well as Ford oil that they recomend.

Think about this "What will it cost you to replace that engine when a warrenty claim not allowed"

I two have a new truck and read all the articles on oil and filters I could find.
In the end you can purchase the correct oil and filter after market for aprox the same price as the substitutes

I guess my question would be if switching to a synthetic would be a warranty problem. Even if it is a ford brand. What if you do it yourself, how is that considered in warranty, or does every oil change have to be done by a Ford dealership/service outfit to be OK as far as warranty goes. My guess is the last. $$$ Just a question.

Ford specifies 5w-20 synthetic or synthetic blend or equivalent. If you do the change yourself, that is perfectly acceptable, just ensure you document date, mileage, and save your receipt.

You might want to read the entire thread. Our posts were actually illustrating how inexpensive an oil and filter change is using the specified Ford oil and filter.
But good on you for jumping right in there and chastising us without worrying about such minor details as facts.

Magnuson-Moss warranty act protects yo. As long as you are using the specified fluid or alternative that meets the established standards.

I do my own oil changes with oil that I know exceeds the motorcraft motor oil, and its the same oil I've used in my Mustang GT since I got it at 15k miles. Now at 75k, there is no wear and no loss of compression. My mechanic said its in great condition. It's the same oil we used in race cars and our tow rigs at my last job.

I track ever number I can from the computer and keep it in a note book. From hours running and idle, miles, mpg, gallons of gas, if the information center has it I keep it. I always use one trip for each fill up, and the other trip only resets at oil changes. All my oil is bought online, so it makes tracking purchases easy.

If something happens, the way I understand it, is that if I have the proof, it would have to be proven that what I did caused the damage.
