Cost of doing business. Same here as well, only pay the tax on the difference. But if selling on Craigslist nets $2000 or more cash than dealer trade in, it's a no brainer to sell privately.

It would have to be more than a couple of grand here since we are pushing close to 10 % in some counties. On a 36k price tag it isn't pretty.

New sales promotion starts Tuesday as they are ditching freinds and family earlier than originally planned.......from what I read buyers were turned off by it as it turned out

It wasn't that great of a deal unless you have absolutely no negotiating ability what so ever. Gotta admit though, Ford hyped it quite well.

Incorrect. F&N continues until the 4th of Jan. More likely someone in sales said "Ends Tuesday" to try and push a sale. Ford rarely ends anything on the actual first of the month either. There is Black Friday Cash that ends, so there could be additional programs next month, but the Friends and Neighbors is still showing Jan 4 for me when I run programs.

It is a pretty strong deal in that its just a tad above invoice. Yes, you can obviously do a better deal, but if it's too much better the dealership is likely making the gross up elsewhere as I've said (every once in a while). That being said, many of you would be surprised how many people do pay full sticker for a vehicle in retail sales, including for trucks, so this does help a good portion of the people and takes the pressure off the process. What is funny to me is my normal price is a few bucks less than Friends and Neighbors and I normally get much more resistance to the sale than what I've had so far this month for normal retail units. I suppose when Ford says its a good deal its more legit than when Doug Frantz says so.

So this one isn't true?

Ford Drops ?Friends & Neighbors? Sales Promotion That Falls Flat With Customers - WSJ

It's a little disappointing if it is.

I pulled a VINCENT this morning and it still showed good till Jan 4. I don't have a WSJ subscription anymore (too much time on forums to read the newspaper), so I can't read the whole article to get any better insight, but everything I have at my finger tips seems like it's good for now. I'll see if I can find anything deeper.

Plenty of echo on the internet, but I don't see anything actually from Ford. It could be legit, but I don't see the hard evidence. I suppose every market is different, our customers seemed to really like it.

Everything seems to be an echo of the WSJ report, which I found an unblocked version. For your interest, this is the same concept of how we knew Saddam had WMDs. One source reported it and several other sources picked it up and reported it as well, making multiple sources. Again, I'm not saying it's not true, but adding 4th party sources from the original reporting isn't adding evidence. The WSJ is reporting its endings, the rebate sources I get for building deals says it ends Jan 04, 2016 yet.

My Ford GM told me to wait till tomorrow Dec 1st to make a purchase. Stated the current program was ending early (today) due to it not doing well.

We'll see tomorrow what if any changes take place.

Tomorrow we will know for sure but my guess is that the new "Holiday pricing" incentives will begin and Friends and Family pricing will be history

Well Friends and Neighbors seems to be gone from my list of options today... but I don't see a new program either. So today is a bad day to buy a truck it seems.... (while I always start around Friends and Neighbors pricing myself, Ford kicked in some money (a few hundred bucks on the trucks) if we sold at that price or lower, and that money is now gone so it really does affect the deals possible.)
