My 1963 F100 Stepside Build Thread
A few months ago I picked up a running 1963 f100 (i6 - 223) stepside that had been sitting for quite a while. I was amazed at how untouched the truck was (or so I thought). It's pretty much all original. Started out as a national guard truck in south dakota and then was with the same family ever since...mostly in Nebraska and then finally driven to Eastern PA about 15 years ago. It's sat for the last 10 years. The last 3 years it sat outside.
Unfortunately, I did NOT take many photos when I first got it...I don't know why I didn't...

Took a bit of effort, but we were able to drive it onto a trailer to get her home.
First thing I did was strip it of the old, rotten wood bed...

Both cab mounts were pretty much completely rotted away and it had patches of sheet metal riveted over top of the old, rotted floor pans. Including parts of the firewall and kick panels.
So far, I've just about finished cutting out all of the cancer on the driver's side...which looks to be the worst side.

The radiator support is also completely rotted away along the whole bottom and will need replacing...but that's about it. Cab corners have a little rot but they can be easily patched. Other then that, it's pretty much completely solid...the front fenders are good, inner fenders need a couple of small patches....but nothing to complain about.
These pictures are from almost a month ago...I've done quite a bit of work since, and I'll post more once there's something worth showing.
As for upgrades, it's immediately getting (and I already have most of the components) front disc brakes and power brakes.
Thanks for reading!
