2010 E-350 rear brakes
I went to change the rear pads on my XLT. The bottom slide pin removed with a 10mm Allen wrench. Due to the close proximity of the leaf spring, I could not get the same wrench into the top slide pin.
I tried to flip the caliper up out of the way, but it hits the bracket and the hose, which attaches at the bottom of the caliper, is too short.
At the time I didn't have a 21mm wrench to remove the bracket (resolved that this evening), but is there a way to remove just the caliper?

I don't know if this helps or not, but,On all my vans, the factory caliper was held on with hex head bolts. The after market rebuilt ones had recess hd (either allen or torx). After they have been on for some time, the allen or torx are a real dog to get off. The last time I did brakes,I tried to switch to the old bolts ,but they wouldn't interchange. Hope that may help.

Update!
After consulting a service manual, which instructs removing the caliper and bracket as an assembly, we found there were no caliper retaining bolts. What I assumed was a retaining bolt (10mm Allen) was in fact merely the guide pin. Once the bracket was removed, which turned out to be more simple that the service manual suggested using a short 21mm impact socket on a short extension, the pads could be removed from the bracket and caliper slid off its pins. One pin was galled and the rubber sleeve damaged so it had to be replaced. Probably the hardest part became torqueing the bracket anchor bolts to 166 ft/lbs.
