6 volt wiring - my 55

I am attempting t rewire from the firewall back on my 55 (still 6 volt) as I ripped all the wiring out with a power grinder.

1. I cannot get the light switch out
2. all of the wiring from the switch through the firewall is intact (but very, very short
3. I cannot determine which wire coming through the firewall is the ground which I assume I will have to have grounded before I can check power in any of the other wires
4. Wiring is not my strength so can someone lead me to the threads that deal with my dilemma?

On the switch, which is behind the dash, there is a small button you need to depress. You should look for a picture of a switch on line, try eBay or MidFifty. Push the button in and then the **** pulls out.

There are no ground wires. The trucks electrical system is grounded through the body. Make sure your positive cable at your battery is grounded to the truck at a spot without rust and paint. Your battery cables should be gauge 00 ( double ought).

Thank you Abe,

When the ground wire is hooked up should I be able to find power coming through one of the wires that exit the firewall? I checked the fuse on the back of the switch and it is good.
