LAST EDITED ON 27-Mar-01 AT 10:27 PM (EST)[p]I have power all the way to the motor but still no movement, when I spliced in the new motor and was checking the power with a meter the other hot wiring touched the tailgate and the motor ran. To me this is a ground poblem- but the ground that bolts to my left tail lite is only going to the rear defroster hook-up no place else, what I think is when you actuate the switch and switch polarity the other wire acts as a ground, and I don't have a switch up front in the cab, and the wiring diagram in haynes only shows ground in the front switch nowhere else??? I tore apart my entire wiring harness checked every wire and put it back I have power but aparently no ground? Is the switch it's own ground and if so is it bad? I did find under the glove compartment the hook-up for the fronyt switch if it came with it, but all the wires are dead no power what so ever. Is there a way to ground the system ie: cheet the system?
ok..go back to what bob said..the solid BLACK wire is the ground..check it with your mm..if it is open, then fumper it to a clean ground..bumper..frame.
also, there should be 2 connectors in the left tail light..one is for the rear defroster, of course.. you can use this ground if the wiring isnt hacked up
i forget what year you have..i see a cb in the 90-91 Haynes manual in the motor diagram section
