302 into 4WD F-100... which perches?

Hi

Can some help out an old man. My son and I started a project (I call it "Engine project swap").

Does anyone know what perches will work? The stock ones are to high or to tall..
We have a 4x4 1974 f-100 and we are installing a 302 small block. It had a 351 in it before.

Thanks for any help!

This might help.... https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...390-truck.html

I'm thinking you may need 302 truck-specific motor mounts and not Mustang mounts. Have you tried visually comparing?... that might be where the extra two inches in height is coming from.

Edit 1......And another....https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-thread-2.html

Edit 2...... Last one: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...info-help.html

Maybe PM one of the respondents....?

What "stock ones" would these be?

Ford did not offer the 302 with 4WD until 1980, 1974 would not have come with a 351 originally. 351M first installed in 1977, 351W first installed in 1981 F150/350.

1973/79 with 4WD: There are no perches because the engine supports bolt to the inner frame rails.

The picture don't do it justice. Its reinforced on the other side and very think and heavy. They are strong and will work just fine.. We welded them to the frame. If I thought it needed more strength I would of done it.....

On a 2WD sure. Not a 4X4. The mounts line up but the bell housing was about 2 in. shy if I remember right. What exhaust manifolds you using?

Hey pain, yes 79,80 81,,,I believe any of those manifolds would work, mine is an 80,,,I used the 302 motor mounts with the 360 stands,,,all drive shafts fit fine except for my small intermediate highboy, needed extended,,,I just recently took off my 360 stands to apply a 460 with the L&L stands
