Okay I have a bit of condensation at my tailpipe, doesn't smell like coolant, one buddy says it's a head gasket and the other said it's a sign of high performance and I need to take it out and drive more often, are either of them right ? 91 F150 4.9 2wd aod
No. Water is a natural byproduct of combustion so you can expect to see some dripping from the tailpipe, the key to minimizing damage to the exhaust system from this water is to drive the vehicle long enough to heat up the exhaust enough to vaporize any water that collects.
One easy way i found is to hold a clear mason jar over the tail pipe and let the condensate collect until there is about a tablespoon in the bottom of the jar. If it's clear you're good. If it has a greenish tint, you're blowing coolant.
