Removing wires from fuse box under hood

Does anyone know how to remove wires from the underhood fuse box without damaging the connections?

I'm still having problems finding the under hood harness, so I'm considering using a harness from a Super Duty truck, but swapping out the fuse box for one of the many on Ebay (where they hack the wiring off). This would give me all the wiring needed to make it run, plus have all the Excursion specific spots on the fuse box for me to put back together later.

I have never pulled one so I am here to learn.

I grabbed this pic off the net, doesn't the harness just plug into the back ?

Removing pins from the connector housing lisle makes a ford specific tool.

But something tells me with your wiring guru status you already know this. LoL

Even though the pic sez ford on it I have always wire my race cars with Delphi connectors that use these types of pin tools.

The pic of the fuse box you posted is the one under the dash. The one under the hood has the wires coming directly out of the bottom- no plugs.

I wonder if that tool is just for connectors, or if it would work on the back of the fuse box.

I still have the original (half melted) fuse box. I cut the wires to about 8 inches, so I can fiddle with it and see if I can figure out how to do it. Better to screw up on this one than one I try to use.
