Short bed trim

Short bed trim
I have a 79 f100custom that just has the one piece trim in middle. I'm making into a two tone someday. I have a cab and front fenders that has trim on it that I need. My question is how hard is it to put the hardware on the bed for the trim at bottom and has anyone ever cut this trim from a long bed to fit a shortbed because the donor teuck I have is a long bed.

Upper pic: Cab / Lower pic: Bed / These mouldings were available for both the short and long Styleside beds.
The upper mouldings are not reproduced. The wheel opening mouldings and the rocker mouldings are reproduced.

I had to replace my original bed with a junk yard find. It's a different yr.... you can tell by the fuel cap vs. a door. I had zero luck finding trim for a short bed and most of my original was trash. I was able to find long bed trim and shorten it up with no problem.
The trim is longer to the front of the bed. You just need to shorten the front. On the center piece cut out a piece but save the front part and hook it back to the rest. You can see in the pic what I used to join the two. On the narrow stuff just cut it a little long and fold it back

I have the center trim on my shortbed. The bottom trim is what I was wondering about cutting to fit. I'm using a f150 lariat ranger cab and it has all the trim on
This is my shortbed

I cut the race track lower trim to fit, once again you just need to make one cut at the front. I taped it to the side to see where to cut and marked the lay-out with a marks a lot so I knew where to drill my holes. You can get the mounting hardware from Dennis Carpenter or other places. I don't have a pic of the cut at the front but it's not a big deal at all.... go for it.

I welded on the trim studs to mount the clips when I installed the trim on my truck that didn't have it originally. I used a stud welder with a trim stud adapter. Google it. I didn't want to drill a bunch of holes & my body & rivet the clips on. I feel the stud welder gives a much cleaner installation, like the factory does. It wasn't hard to do,just take your time laying everything out. Some holes do need to be drilled for the metal clips that are used in different spots on the trim.
