Extra parts in my master cyl/pedal set up???
#17
My problem was I bought the truck from a guy that didn't build it so he had no clue what was on it. Master cylinder went and I couldn't find out what type of vehicle it was off. Same with front brakes. So a bought new everything so I would know what everything was. Bought this complete kit off eBay. Very similar to my set up just not exact. Thank you for the help so far. Just want to get this figured out.

Not all systems need the residual pressure valves. For what ever reason a lot of people on here think they are necessary. I have a stock location M/C and do not have residual valves and the is no adverse effects in my system. The valves became real popular with the new after market small reservoir M/C's. I say if your existing system worked fine replace you M/C and confirm it works fine, if not you can always add the valves after the master install. The effect of not having the valves is there is more pedal movement prior brake application, that is all. Your brakes will still work without the valves.

Ross,
True, but the new one may have them as well. A lot of the late model m/c's do have them. It can be determined by testing with a pressure gauge or visual inspection by removing the seat in the port and checking for the check valve. Being that his replacement is direct bolt in per the OP, putting in the new m/c and then determine if he needs the residual pressure valves. It is not a big deal to add them after the fact.
He said it was a kit he bought on ebay. A lot of those sellers just throw parts in their kits, needed or not, because they (seller) don't have clue what they are selling.
