Stripped Distributer Gears

I had to replace the distributer in my 1995 F150 351w because the pickup sensor in the distributer went bad. I bought a remanufactured distributer from Pep Boys with a cast iron gear. After replacing, and timing the truck ran great for 3 or 4 months before it broke down again. This time I pulled the distributer out and the gears had worn down quickly and finally broke.

Do I need a better distributor, or could the replacement distributer just have been bad?

Ill try to post a pic asap.

Thanks for the help!

I am 95% sure that truck engine has a roller cam and it requires a steel distributor drive gear.

Your right. Will the 1996 listing for the distributer with the steel gear work with my truck?
