swapping a SD efi 460 into a old SODA shortcourse 2wd race truck
has a c-6 and fabbed 9" diff. using a 97 f250 460 zf5 4x4 pcm and parts of the harness. no instrument cluster

looking at how to install a vss sensor.
have looked at the sensor from my 89 4x4 with e40d could i just use that sensor for vss? its the one where there is a drive cable but also electrical to.
and just throw it into the original c-6 speed cable hole????

second question that should have been first,
Do i even need the vss? i know itll run but will it run at its best? or trip the mil

 

This is just a guess, but skip the VSS idea and just run a PCM for a C6 or manual truck. Either one doesnt care about the vehicle speed to run

 

It probably will trip the MIL but who cares if you don't have a cluster... not like it will be something you have to stare at.

Should not affect engine operation at all, especially with a PCM from a truck that was manual trans to begin with. My truck ran fine when my PSOM took a dump (same effect as not having a VSS) and my truck has an automatic so the PCM is definitely looking for that signal.
