Excursion v10 mpg

Looking into getting an excursion for my girlfriend. We stopped and looked at a 2004 EB edition 4x4 v10 with 108k miles. On the test drive the overhead said it was getting 10.5 mpg, is this average? I've never owned a v10 and don't know to much about them. We plan on using the excursion as a daily drivin grocery getter. She wants to lift it 6 inches and put it on 35s. My main concern is what her mpg will be on 35s and if we should spring for the 7.3 4x4 instead for the mpg and maintenance..

10.5 would probably average for stop and go driving. It will go down with the lift and tires. Diesel would get a few better but you can only get the 7.3 till 2002. Diesels cost much more to maintain.

I can say we about mirror the mileage reported already. Diesels do get a little better mileage but also cost a lot more to purchase and usually have a lot more miles on them from what I found. I decided I could buy a ton of gas for the $7,000 I saved buying a V10 vs diesel.

What gears are in the axles? He V10 engine in any truck should have came with at least a 4.11 to a 4.30 stock. With the 35" tires you may look at a 4.56 or a 4.88 gear ratio. 04 is a good engine, may also check out the Banks Header group buy or 5star tuning for a programmer and SPD Y pipe.

Don't know the gears. It was on a car lot and we didn't know about mpg or what's better. I have and 02 250 5.4 on 35s. Running stock gears. May end up selling it, and snatching up and excursion for her. Looking to get a 90s f-250 or 350 crew cab.
