A/c system issue and identification

Let me start by saying I have done my research and have not found anything that is useful. So here it goes...

I have a 1989 f-150 xt 5.0L 4x4 with a 4speed manual trans. I am working on converting my r12 system to 134. I got the adapter kit and installed the high and low fittings. I work at a shop and have r12 and 134 a/c machines that I am using for the conversion.

The issue I'm having is the line from my pump (sd-709 p/n) to the condenser is leaking. I have been searching for a week now trying to find the right line and have had no luck. I believe I have a dealer installed system. And I also think someone has jerry rigged the system before me since the lines are hose clamped on.

I am looking for a definitive way to determine which a/c system is installed in my truck. Every parts store/catalog I try to use only give me the lines for the other type of pump (fs10).

Any help is greatly appreciated. I hope someone on here is familiar with the systems and is able to point me in the right direction!

I don't know where you are located but I had a place in Hopkins MN make new lines for my 73 tbird and put the R134A fittings on it. There might be a place near you that can make some for you? Didn't cost that much either.

One way I think you can tell depends on the style of the receiver/drier. If you have factory A/C your drier should look like this.

And dealer installed A/C driers look like this

Dirt racer - That's a good idea. I was just really hoping to find some oem parts for it. Although your right a custom line will probably be cheaper, and also better quality.

Da_Lariat_Chariot- that's interesting because mine looks more like the factory installed drier. I will take a pictur tomorrow to post.

The line attached to the left of the pump from the view goes to the condenser. The line to the right comes from the drier

This is the driver side of the condenser. The line has a hole about a 1/4" to the right of the clamp

That AC system looks to be a Hack job-at its best!

None of that looks original.

UPDATE: I did find an image of one other F-series truck with the same style a/c system. But it did not help with finding the line.

I ended up removing the line that was leaking and found that it was split at the end about 2 inches down the center on the inside. I cut it and reinstalled. Charged the system with 134a and it's been mighty cold ever since.

I used dye in the oil and have been checking for leaks. ALL THE LINES LOOK GREAT! I found the compressor to be leaking from the front case cover. I'm not to worried about that though. I'll grab a new compressor next week.

Thanks for the help.
