A/C System

Awhile back I was looking at my a/c system to determine what it was and it's dealer installed. My truck is a '84 F150 with the 300 I6. What i'm looking for now is a diagram or hints as to where the recharge ports and canister are. I can't find any diagrams anywhere. Any help much appreciated.

If it is R134a you will have blue and red caps. Now if you don't have these ports, and have not had it retro fitted to R134a you might have an issue.

If it has R12 in it(non retro system) you have to use R12 and cannot use R134a. Look for the caps, they should be on the A/C lines.

Yeah, that's the problem.. I can't find any a/c lines that usualy go from the compressor to the rest of the system. If I could find a layout of the dealer installed system, I can then find my ports and where my canister is.

That dosn't sound right, the lines are large and very easy to follow, start at the compressor,or the condensor ( at the radiator) and follow them. The line between the compressor and condensor is your high side and continues from the condensor to the evaporater. From the evap back to the compressor is the low side. Unless someone removed all the lines. Is this a second owner vehicle?

it a bit of strange news, the fan turned on while i was driving down the road o.O

to flamebuster, yes. I'm the 6th owner of the truck. The compressor's still on the engine plus the fan and that other stuff. When I look behind the passenger side dash, I see a black box. dunno what it's for but that has a down vent to another box where the fan is.

responses may be limited due to lack of internet and once in a while trip to the cafe.
