302 normal operating temperature range?

Run the new motor 5 minutes or so then fell the housing to see if it's hot. If it is, then might want to get a bigger motor. That single 14 will move more air than the two tens combined. I ran twin tens on my V8 Ranger, it never was enough to cool it on really hot days sitting in traffic.
