Rotella Elc
Ok guys , I'm taking the Coolant plunge from ford Gold to Rotella Elc Concentrate ( not Ultra) The only thing I don't like is that it's Red and Trans fluid is red. Does any one have an opinion on this product or should I just stay with the Gold , My truck has always had gold since Birth. I know ( NOT Another coolant Discussion) Thanks Guys for your Input

I'm running the Rotella coolant, I didn't see the Ultra, the regular Rotella has all the proper specs. Got it at Tractor Supply for a decent price but don't remember exactly what it cost. I don't really see a problem with the color. Do a good flush, any remaining silicates from the gold will reduce the effectiveness of the ELC formulation in preventing corrosion and cavitation.
In my opinion, the gold will work fine for you also. The trick is to keep it clean, fresh, at the proper mix, and don't routinely overheat the truck. The benefit is you don't necessarily have to be as thorough on the flush job.

I used 23 (#24 was unopened for color reference) gallons for my first flush, every drain I would loosen the lower rad hose and open driver's side block drain with a Fumoto, ran it a minute or so each fill with no t-stat installed. You can see that around 18-20 was diminishing returns, but I wanted to use all 24 I bought.
110% recommend the Fumoto block drain. I saw no need to mess with the starter on the passenger's side plug just for coolant swaps so I only did the driver's side, but having the valve makes draining out a gallon or so for a t-stat change or filter change a zero-mess breeze. Hose to an empty jug, right back into the degas bottle after.

I am ging to drop this here sense we are talking flushing.
What if one were to pump the water coming out of the drain
plug through a fine filter and then back into the other side
to cross flush things once you got it all good and warm/hot?
the revers the sides and do it again. I bet that would shake
a few things loose. One other thing to do is use a rubber heater
hose to by-pass the heater core so that it does not trap the junk
and flush it separately from the engine.

I would think that you know that your really looking to knock
stuff loose you don't want it getting stuck in the heater like
it does with the oil cooler.
