How to measure headers

I want to replace existing headers on my 65 F100 with same so I can keep the existing, relatively new, exhaust system. There are a couple choices for the Hooker Competition Long Tube, but I can not find where the supplier provides instructions on header nomenclature and/or how to measure for a replacement; i.e., flange size, primary tube length, collectors dia., I assume the collector is the section where the tubes meet, etc. Appreciate suggestions, website, comments.

Summitracing has the specs listed for their headers. If you know the Hooker part # then search for that on there. I looked real quick and found a set for a 1970 (Ford didn't put the 302 in a 65) Now whether I not they will line up with the exhaust you have now who knows. These specs don't tell us that.

Example:

Header Style:Full-length

Header Material:Steel

Header Finish:Painted

Weld-Up:No

Primary Tube Diameter (in):1 5/8 in.

Collector Attachment:3-bolt flange

Collector Diameter:2.500 in.

Tuned:No

Primary Tube Length (in):27 in.

Primary Tube Gauge:16-gauge

Flange Style:Standard

Flange Thickness (in):5/16 in.

Bolts/Studs Included:Yes

Gaskets Included:Yes

Reducers Included:No

Crossover Pipe Included:No

Catalytic Converter(s) Included:No

Motor Mounts Included:No

Transmission Mount Included:No

Can't thank you enough for the info., found it very helpful. Went online to a couple header manufacturer's, Sanderson for one, who use to provide a diagram and instructions on their website on how to measure vehicle for headers but I could not find it.

Initially hoping to get the truck back on the road within a short period of time by ordering the headers online in advance. Believe I came across the same Hooker header's U mentioned thru either Summit, or Jeg's and based on their description the headers should fit; however, as noted, whether the header flanges to port fit is the same is the question so now I am considering calling a couple of local auto parts supplier's, who over the years, have been able to obtain parts for my 65 within 24 hours, and take the old headers for measurement and comparison then place the order thru them which should eliminate any concerns I have about fitment. Again, thank you for taking the time to post the information!!.
