1997 F-250 7.3L Help!!!

1997 F-250 7.3L 280000mi .... truck will run good then shut off when going down the road will not start backup again the wait to start light will not come on truck will turn over just fine..... after about 15 to 20 min the wait to start light will come on and truck will run good.... checked #22 fuse and checked the back of fuse box for bad connection... when cranking you can see rmps. I have let the truck sit and idle for almost 2 hrs with no problems any suggestions??

Crank position sensor is a common problem on the 7.3 that causes the issues you are having. Ford had a recall on the 7.3 that replaces the CPS under warranty so I'd call your local dealer and get that done

1997 F-250 7.3L Help!!!

I changed it this morning and drove it around most the day with no problem then I died again... I noticed when trying to crank it you can see the rmps on the dash but the wait to start light never comes on... about 20min went by the I tried it again the wait to start light came on then it fired right up.

1997 F-250 7.3L Help!!!

I have had the truck idling steady for about 2 hrs with no problems at least as of yet

I would suggest disconnect the fuel heater first.
Then if it still happens I would be checking the ign switch.

Do you have a chip? Sounds like it may be loose.
