Lie to get a sale is one thing but to not make a sale makes no sense.

I would ask the factory rep about it or even call Ford Motor Company. I know they really don't like to order and much prefer to sell what is on the lot.

This is what's posted by Ford, so if you wanted one that falls in these list the dealer was being completely honest with you. I'd order every vehicle if the customers would let us. We want to sell what we have on the lot to move it along, because customers may get cold feet, and customers are pretty darn impatient. Factory orders are good for my business because the customer isn't compromising on packages or color, they get what they want, rebates may improve making a better than expected deal, and I don't have to pay any interest on the vehicle.

I think my dealership sales rep was being completely honest. It also sounds like he isn't completely knowledgeable. Thanks for the info.

I have difficulty understanding why someone wouldn't order. I agree, get exactly what you want. Every time I tried to order they always said they would find it. Then they didn't and then I ordered. I guess I just need to accept that a lot of people impulse buy $50k trucks.

In my dealing with local dealerships, I have found that some absolutely HATE to do factory orders, while others do it routinely.

I have to assume this is a familiarity issue, but who knows. I do know that if I want to order, I'll be going to a dealership who wants to do business that way.

Hmmm, I ordered my SCab/8'box end of April, question now is are they still going to build it? Also Included the extended range fuel tank, adds an additional 14-16 wks, from order date?

Ecoboost milage inflation ha been documented on forums for many years now and should not be a surprise anymore.

I ordered a 2015 F-150 Super Cab w/ 8ft box in March knowing it would be a late delivery (June) due to the 8ft box. I was just informed by the dealer today that Ford has a limited number of frames for this style and having difficulty getting them. No definite timeframe or even if my truck is going to be built.

Interesting, I was not aware of the extended tank wait in addition to the 8" box.

Extended Range Fuel Tanks (655) will increase lead time to 14-16 weeks.

If you can wait, I'd go with the 16.

It boggles the mind. I think if more people paid cash they would be more demanding on what they get. I can give you the same deal one an order as the ugly yellow one on my lot as far as my profit margins go. It really is about the patience, and Merica. Now if Ford gets a shortage and your order gets chopped you gotta scramble, but that's less common that it seems at the moment.

True that. We talked to at least 4 dealers about what we wanted. The 6-1/2' box essentially meant that there were zero in stock anywhere in the state. So we decided we needed to order what we wanted. Two of the 4 dealers said they did not want to order it for us.

Oh well.
