I was just about to post something similar. I just returned from the dealer where I was getting ready to finalize my order. I was ordering a F-150 CC with the 6.5' bed with the max payload capacity. He showed me a memo stating that they are no longer taking orders for them and that they may or may not be producing any this model year. It's suppose to be decided on by 6/17. I believe its any 6.5' bed for the F-150. The dealer made it sound like its a frame production issue. I'm wondering if its such a niche market that they don't want to limit the production of the more popular builds.

Is this due to them being short of frames? That's a known issue, their frame plant in Kentucky is falling behind. Maybe they are focusing on a couple of frame lengths to keep up to part of the demand?
This is currently speculation on my part, I can't find anything official that gives the details. I have a feeling that the OP has at least some of his facts incorrect.

The salesman made it definitely sound like a frame issue. My thought was they are behind so why bother shutting things down and changing over when they can keep cranking out what they can and just push the niche market builds back to the 2016 model and ride out this money train for everything its worth. If it is a panel issue they wouldn't want that getting out and maybe placing the blame on the frame production. Either way it sucks for me. I was really excited about ordering my truck.

Ford is telling me that balance out is past for the following: Regular cab, All: Super Cab, 163": Crew Cab, 157" 4x4 plow package.
This isn't because of production issues to my knowledge. I personally don't see a correlation. '16 order banks open in August, which isn't that far away. They may just be trying to focus production on the more retail type units as these ones are generally your XL models.

Hey guys I work at Essex Engine where we make the 5.0L engine. We had a shortage of frames. Last Friday they cancelled all 3 shifts because we had no racks left to put the engines in, Dearborn Truck didn't run at all the week before. Now they have decided to cut the B&A plants shutdowns to 1 week, and ours is 3 weeks long to reduce our inventory.

Thanks dort. Kind of a sad that this new model was so eagerly anticipated, and now the corporation is falling on it's face with supply issues. They may be able to hold off on further discounting, which may help a little with perceived value, but won't do much for overall revenue.
Does anyone have any solid info about what's causing this frame shortage and when they'll have it fully fixed? If this causes a much smaller production run of 2015 model year trucks, that's no biggie, but if this spills into the early run of 2016 trucks, which is coming soon, then this is going to be a big black mark.
I'm still waiting for the next transmission anyway . . .

I agree with you, it's hurting our stock prices and sales revenue. However on the flip side, the suppliers took a hell of a hit when the auto industry almost collapsed. Now it's hard to find suppliers because they're no longer in business or have relocated far away. We are aware of the issue because we get affected first hand, and trust me Ford wants to get the trucks out to as many people as they can and fast. They are cancelling shutdown weeks at the Build and Assembly plants, and I've heard they may totally cancel summer shutdowns as well, so we'll wait and see. Ford's main income earnings come from the F series sales period, this issue will be resolved this much I know, reminds me of an old saying PROFIT AND LOSS.Sincerely Jim.
