How much oil does a 69 f100 with a 360 use?
I have a 1969 f100 2wd with a 360 in it. I believe my oil dipstick is too short. How much oil does it take? I put 6 quarts in already

Most FE's took 5 but a few may take 6 with filter.

After all this time, you never know what's been swapped unless you're the original owner. Take a pic of the pan and post it here if you can. If not, email it to me and I'll do it.

Is the truck a 4 wheel drive with the large flat sump from front to rear? 2 wheel drives take 6 quarts with filter, 4 wheel drives take 10? quarts I think.

My highboy didn't take THAT much - 6 with filter, if I remember correctly.

Ford did make a full sump pan for the FT/FE that held 10qts. Once upon a time I saw one on 3bay.

Where does all this woulda coulda shoulda crap come from?
"a 1969 f100 2wd with a 360 in it" will work with a max of 6 qts with filter.
The OP has not responded nor indicated that the pan is modded in any way.

The larger sump oil pan came on the larger trucks that sported the 361 and 391.

It comes from the fact that unless you are the original owner, you have no idea what's already been done to the engine during the past 46 years.
And while the OP is long gone, anyone else reading this thread might just assume THEIR engine takes 6 qts, meanwhile it's got an FT pan on it :P

And yes, that "full sump pan" was an FT pan, I believe.

Zackly, My point is the OP has not responded and yet we get all of the suggestive doesn't add anything to the thread posts. IMHO
