Even with the correct 302 motor mount stands, I had to redrill the frame and crossmember and move them forward for the drivers side head to clear the firewall. I cut out the floor hump and got a bolt on cover to clear the C6. Headers are still a challenge I haven't solved yet. Just some thoughts.
Try to find the most rust free truck you can find. That's the biggest challenge.
I did the same thing with the 351W in my 68. I got some engine perches from a 302 truck and mounted them in the same position but my head was barely hitting the fire wall so I moved the perches ahead 1" and it fit fine. Minor adjustment so I wouldn't say 351W fitment was a problem though. I used a C4 so I had no problem with a low hump and I used the original trans crossmember just drilled new holes in the frame.. I've just used the stock exhaust manifolds, no headers.

Good info. Sounds relatively easy, as easy as engine swaps can be anyway. I'm not new to shoehorning big engines in small places though.

I probably won't start looking hard till next summer though.

If timelines work out, whenever I actually pull the trigger on my cv swap, I will have a pair of 302 perches up for grabs. I just can make no promises right now about when exactly time and finances are going to allow that to happen.

I think I'm going to ultimately regret it if I don't do a cv swap. Which will push the timeline out farther and may make me rethink my engine options. mod swap/coyote swap wouldn't be out of the question.
