Long tube hedders and check engine light

Well, I got my hedman hedders installed, true dual, no cats, dumped at the rear axle on my 1992 f150 302. Runs and sounds great, but the "Check Engine" light came on, should that be expected? Also, I painted them with high temperature paint, and it smells pretty bad right now, is this normal? Will it go away? Thanks!

Update: I assumed they replaced the O2 sensor, but after looking, they did not... So I called and they will install it tomorrow. That was after he insisted I didn't need it, but I have read several threads on here that say the opposite....

Another muffler/exhaust, guy/shop, that is still stuck in carbed engine days...

EFI has been around for 30+ years...

Un freakin belivable!!

Have them put a bung for it in the passenger side header collector, there is no need for it to "see" both banks to operate properly.
