Check Engine Light, goes On Then Off
I HAVE A 93FORD EXPLORER4X4.6CYL.I BOUGHT IT IN 99,WITH 82,000MILES.I HAVE I36,OOOMILES ON IT.I RECENTLY CHANGED THE WIRES AND PLUGS AND GAS FILTER.I HAD THE AIR FIXED TWICE,I HAD THE RADIATER REPLACED.I HAD A SEPENTINE BELT REPLACED,AND I JUST HAD A FAN CLUTCH AND FAN PUT IN.MY TRUCK NEVER STALLED BEFORE IN TRAFFIC.THE CHECK ENG.LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN OFF.THEN THE REST OF THE DAY THE LIGHT STAYED OFF,AND IT DIDN'T STALL.I WAS TOLD BY FORD IT COULD BE THE EMMISIONS.WHAT IF I THROW SOME EMMISIONS CLEANER IN THE TANK,WOULD THAT HELP?OR DO YOU THINK IT'S A SENSOR PROBLEM.EVERYTIME I FIX ONE THING,SOMETHING ELSE GOES.WITH THE MILEAGE I HAVE IS IT WORTH FIXING?LLENFLORIDA

get the codes pulled to put you on the right path. With your miles you are coming up to replacing the O2 sensors, the EGR, maybe plugs and wires. Could also be things like loose gas cap, the charcoal cannister etc. Codes will help.
Good Luck,

Check Engine Light, goes On Then Off
THE LIGHT WILL COME ON FOR 30SEC, THEN GO OFF.YESTERDAY WAS THE FIRST TIME IT STALLED.TODAY I DROVE IT AND THE LIGHT DIDN'T COME ON.I LEFT THE AIR CONDITIONER OFF.I JUST CHANGED MY PLUGS AND WIRE'S. SOME TIMES WHEN I GO TO GET GAS,I NOTICE MY GAS CAP,FEELS LIKE IT WASN'T LOCKED.

Can we lose the caps, not only is it rude(yelling) but it make the posts hard to read. I would start by pulling the codes. Autozone or Advance Auto or someplace like that will usually do it for free. That will tell you why the light came on. It stored the code so you could pull it, then when you know what part is making the light come on you can diagnose that circuit and see why it is setting a code. The light could be a bad O2 sensor, failing TPS, failing IAC..... The list goes on and on so you need to find out for sure.
